Our first workshop took place in October 2021 in the National Park Bavarian Forest. Beside discussions of our Earth Observation research, potential collaborations, new remote sensing developments, challenges of software applications also potential of joint teaching activities were discussed. The practical part was this time the exchange of experiences of UAV in remote sensing and several UAS/UAVs with diverse payload and of course the actual launch and data collection.
We had a great week in the National Park Bavarian Forest with talks by the science department and DLR colleagues beside our own presentations (respectively the team members of) by Cornelius Senf, Hanna Meyer, Paul Magdon and Martin Wegmann. We also used the week of extensive walk-and-talk activities – joint hikes through the park and plenty of time to discuss specific issues without any timeframe or interrupting emails or phone calls – a very productive way to facilitate bilateral discussions.
Many new ideas and collaborations resulted from this workshop and we are very much looking forward to the next meeting in 2022.
